Physiotherapy (PT)

Registered Physiotherapists

Physiotherapists use their judgment and techniques based on their extensive education, science and research to work with patients to help them walk and move freely after injury, recover mobility after illness or surgery, manage chronic diseases like arthritis and diabetes and much more. A physiotherapist will work with you to put together a treatment plan for your condition or injury, so you can get back to enjoying life and the activities you love. (from PABC Website)

With a Masters Degree of Physical Therapy, the study of physiotherapy is anchored in movement sciences and aims to enhance or restore function of multiple body systems. All physiotherapists at Reactive IM are members in good standing with the Physiotherapy Association of BC.

Reactive Injury Management

Our Services

Our Services

A hands on physiotherapy technique that includes gentle joint mobilizations and soft tissue release techniques to restore joint range of motion and facilitate fluid, pain free movement. Manual therapy is most often applied to the neck, back, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle/foot.

Electrotherapy treatment options such as TENS, interferential (IFC), and ultrasound, are applied to alleviate pain, reduce muscle spasm, decrease inflammation, and stimulate healing in combination with Physiotherapy. Neuromuscular stimulation can also be used to re-establish proper muscle activation/timing and optimize strength.

Cold Laser Therapy or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is a treatment that utilizes specific wavelengths of light to interact with tissue and is thought to help accelerate the healing process. It can be used on patients who suffer from a variety of acute and chronic conditions in order to help eliminate pain, swelling, reduce spasms and increase functionality.

Various Physiotherapists at our clinic offer IMS / Dry Needling in combination with physiotherapy as a treatment option. IMS can be helpful to:

  • Decrease pain
  • Decrease muscle spasm
  • Reduce inflammation

Prior to booking your appointment, be sure to inform the front desk that you would like IMS to be considered as part of your treatment plan.

Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device used in orthopaedics, physiotherapy, sports medicine, urology and veterinary medicine. Its main assets are fast pain relief and mobility restoration. Together with being a non-surgical therapy with no need for painkillers makes it an ideal therapy to speed up recovery and cure various indications causing acute or chronic pain. Acoustic waves with high energy peak used in Shockwave therapy interact with tissue causing overall medical effects of accelerated tissue repair and cell growth, analgesia and mobility restoration.

Mechanical Traction is a manual technique designed to reduce pressure on affected vertebral discs that are causing pain. A steady and controlled traction or decompression force on the spine takes the pressure off the joints and the discs in the spine, giving pain relief for many lower back pain and neck conditions.

Traction therapy can treat a variety of conditions and injuries, some of which include sciatica, herniated or bulging discs, facet disease, pinched nerves, and degenerative disc disease.

We use best practice techniques for a safe and timing return to hobby or play. Our physiotherapists will perform a detailed assessment to determine the mechanism of injury (trauma vs. slow insidious onset), extent of damage (specific stress tests), and identification of contributing factors such as posture, specific weakness, or training errors.

Dizziness and Vertigo are common symptoms following head injuries like concussion. Our Physiotherapists can diagnosis and treat dizziness, off balance, vertigo, or concussion that may be due to a fall, motor vehicle accident or workplace injury.

Following surgery the goal of physiotherapy is to optimize your healing and realize the full potential of your surgical procedure. Treatment will focus on restoring range of motion, re-activating specific musculature with neuromuscular stimulation and surgical-specific exercises, and decreasing your pain with electrotherapy or other modalities.

Taping techniques are used effectively to:

  • Reduce pain
  • Stabilize a joint
  • Improve joint mechanics
  • Prevent re-injury

This technique can be very effective immediately following an injury to reduce inflammation and prevent further injury, and is also used during rehab to restore joint mechanics and optimize your rehabilitation.

You are pre-approved for 25 sessions with a Physiotherapist within the first 12 weeks of your car accident.  No doctor's note is required. WE CHARGE NO USER FEES, your sessions are 100% covered by ICBC. You are entitled to accident benefits whether you are at fault or not. If your accident was more than 12 weeks ago a doctors note may be required to initiate treatment.

TMJ physiotherapy helps people who have pain or trouble moving their jaw. TMJ stands for temporomandibular joint, which connects your jaw to your skull. A physiotherapist uses gentle exercises, massage, and other treatments to reduce pain, improve jaw movement, and help you eat, talk, and yawn more comfortably.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Pelvic health physiotherapy is an evidence-based approach to assessing and treating a wide range of conditions affecting the pelvis and pelvic floor muscles. These conditions are common, treatable, and often significantly impact quality of life.

Pelvic health physiotherapy can help with:

  • Incontinence (bladder or bowel leakage)
  • Pelvic organ prolapse
  • Pelvic pain
  • Coccydynia (tailbone pain)
  • Pregnancy-related concerns
  • Postpartum recovery
  • Rectus diastasis (abdominal separation)
  • Bowel dysfunction (including constipation)
  • And many more

What Is the Pelvic Floor?

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles that attach to the front, back, and sides of the pelvis and sacrum. These muscles form a supportive “hammock” or sling at the base of your pelvis.

They play an essential role in:

  • Supporting pelvic organs
  • Controlling bladder and bowel function
  • Assisting in sexual function
  • Contributing to core strength and stability

In women, these muscles also surround the urethra, vagina, and rectum.

Although these muscles work quietly in the background, many people are unaware of them—and may not know how to properly engage or strengthen them. When they are not functioning optimally, a variety of symptoms can arise.

What to Expect During an Assessment

Your initial assessment is thorough, respectful, and tailored to your comfort level.

Subjective Assessment

This involves discussing your history and current concerns. Your physiotherapist will:

  • Review your medical history
  • Ask questions about pain, bladder and bowel function, and (if relevant) sexual health
  • Use validated outcome measures to better understand your symptoms and track progress

Objective Assessment

This is a physical evaluation that may include:

  • Breathing patterns
  • Posture and alignment
  • Movement patterns
  • Strength and conditioning
  • Assessment of the low back (lumbar spine) and mid-back (thoracic spine)
  • Pelvic floor muscle function

All assessments are performed with your informed consent and comfort as the priority.

What Does a Session Look Like?

Your care is delivered by a physiotherapist who has completed advanced training and certification in pelvic health.

During your session:

  • The physiotherapist will clearly explain the assessment and treatment process
  • Proper draping and privacy are always maintained
  • You will be offered alternative options at all times
  • Your consent is obtained before any assessment or treatment begins
  • You may withdraw consent at any point

Sessions are longer than standard physiotherapy appointments to ensure adequate time for assessment, education, and treatment.

If you would prefer, you can also arrange to speak with the physiotherapist prior to booking to ask questions and ensure you feel comfortable.

Our Approach

We understand that pelvic health concerns can feel sensitive or difficult to talk about. Our goal is to create a safe, supportive, and confidential environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered in your care.
